As a latest example, WINGS is now in the progress of raising a seed private fund for creating a spin-out of a company that will be targeted to the intelligent management of local broadband networks(e.g., operated by non-expert companies, public administrations etc.).

1. Embedded modules, that are designed by moltosenso, integrating state-of-art of electronic components, in a modular, patented, secure, robust and stacked configuration, with the possibility to be enclosed in certified enclosures (CE, Atex, anti-tampered, etc.).
2. Tailored wireless connectivity, so that modules can be networked together and (using gateways) with other networks with the most suitable RAT (or multi-RAT) for the addressed vertical market.
3. Algorithms, middleware, applications are designed to be adapted to every kind of Third Parties smart object (smartphone, electrical appliances, automotive accessories, etc.). An SDK to program the network nodes or a turkey system can be provided to the end-user.
4. Confidentiality, authenticity, security and Integrity: modules can be provided with the most modern solutions to ensure trusted modules’ behavior and communication.

This platform is used to develop the following ongoing activities:

1. SMART METERING. moltosenso has developed the prototype of a system to wirelessly monitor energy consumptions within buildings; cost distribution evaluation per zone or per electric load helps the owner to locate excessive or extended sources of consumption.
2. HEAT METERING. moltosenso has developed the concept of a novel system to control comfort and temperature of single rooms served by a central heater installation in real time, thus taking into consideration its costs.
3. CRACKS AND VIBRATIONS MONITORING. moltosenso has developed the system to monitor cracks and vibrations of the marbles of the Guarini Chapel (Dome of Turin), where the Holy Shroud is kept, exposing in the Shanghai Expo 2010 as Italia degli Innovatori representative.
4. DIAPSENSE™. moltosenso took part to the final of the EU SME eHealth Competition 2012 and won an ACCESIT for the most Innovative eHealth Solution with its concept of a system to remotely monitor neatness of diapers worn by elder people in clinics, to assure them a more comfortable and quick replacement. The project resulted suitable for market launch by relevant investors.

Nextworks has participated in several EU FP7 projects (GEYSERS, CHANGE, LIGHTNESS, CONTENT, Mobile Cloud Networking, TRILOGY2), developing control planes for physical and virtual optical networks and investigating the coordinated provisioning of connectivity services and cloud resources.

Nextworks is also active in standardization (e.g. contributor in IETF and OGF, observer in ETSI NFV ISG).

• G²MPLS – open-source whole GMPLS stack with grid extensions: TNRC, LRM, RSVP, CCC, NCC, Recovery Controller, TEDB, Quagga-based OSPF, OIF UNI and E-NNI (FP6 IP PHOSPHORUS)
• NXW-GMPLS – closed-source fully-standard ASON/GMPLS stack, compliant with the main RFCs from the IETF CCAMP WG; including modules for call and connection control (RFC 4974), recovery control, RSVP-TE, LRM, OIF UNI and E-NNI, IETF UNI. Generalized API to provided to allow the interaction with vendor-specific devices through the implementation of dedicated plugins
• NXW-PCE – closed-source, fully standard PCE stack , compliant with the main RFC and I-Ds from the IETF PCE WG (RFC 5440, 5520, 5521, 5541, 5557, 5886) and supporting the PCEP extensions for GMPLS and MLN. The PCE server supports the hierarchical model and can operate as child or parent PCE. Support for stateful and delegation mechanisms is in progress
• GMPLS and PCE extensions design and development in several EC-funded projects for net+IT provisioning (GEYSERS); RSVP-TE and PCEP extensions for sub-wavelength metro networks (MAINS); Service PCE for computation of network service pricing (ETICS); Flow-aware PCE for coordinated computation of flows and LSPs path in scenarios with OF and GMPLS domains (FIBRE)
