SUMMARY:Call For Papers - Special Issue on Network Enablers for 6G Use Cases
DESCRIPTION:IEEE Networking Letters – Special Issue on Networking Enablers for 6G Use Cases \nCall For Papers \nThanks to its three major enablers\, i.e.\, enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB)\, massive machine type communications (mMTC)\, and ultra reliable low latency communications (URLLC)\, 5G communications paved the way to use cases such as networked robotics and autonomous systems\, distributed and collaborative sensor/actuator technologies\, personalized user experience and extended reality. These applications seek lower latency (100 microseconds at peak rate)\, faster speed (i.e.\, 100x)\, and higher penetration per square kilometer (i.e.\, 10x). \nExpected to become a reality in 2030\, 6G communications call for efficient and effective solutions that align with the 6G roadmap. With this in mind\, the Special Issue on Network Enablers for 6G Use Cases invites researchers to submit their original contributions leveraging transformational methods\, techniques\, and platforms to advance state-of-the-art and address open issues and challenges from the standpoint of networking in the realization of 6G Use Cases. \nTopics of interest include but are not limited to: \n\nNovel approaches for design\, planning\, and control to ensure ultra-reliable and resilient services over 6G networks\nBridging agility\, flexibility\, and personalized user experience\nNovel and transformative methodologies and paradigms for AI-enabled 6G network automation\nNetworking challenges in the convergence of satellite\, aerial and terrestrial networks for maximized coverage\nNetworking impacts of THz and Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) communications\nRole of blockchains in the realization of spectrum efficiency\nMassive MIMO-based solutions for spectrum usage in 6G use cases\n6G- and 6G use case-specific network security solutions\nTransformative methodologies to achieve sustainability goals in the 6G Era\nEdge integration into a complete Cloud Continuum for 6G\nOptical Core\, Metro\, and Inter-DC network design and operation catering to 6G Services\nQuantum Networking and Computing\nData and management plane solutions for fiber-wireless convergence in 6G scenarios\nExperimental results and experimentation platforms for 6G networks\n\n   \nSubmission Guidelines  \nManuscripts should conform to the standard format indicated in the Manuscript Submission Guidelines on the IEEE Networking Letters website. Please\, check these guidelines carefully before submitting since submissions not complying with them will be administratively rejected without review. \nAll manuscripts to be considered for publication must be submitted by the deadline through the Author Portal. Select the “SI:6G” topic from the drop-down menu at the time of submission. \nImportant Dates  \nManuscript Submission Deadline: 15 December 2022\nFirst Round of Decision Notification: 31 January 2023 \nFinal Decision: 28 February 2023\nFinal Manuscript Due: 15 March 2023\nTarget Publication Date: Second Quarter 2023 \n  \nGuest Editors  \nBurak Kantarci (University of Ottawa\, Canada) \nPaolo Monti (Chalmers University of Technologies\, Sweden) \nRaouf Boutaba (University of Waterloo\, Canada)

SUMMARY:18th Wireless On-demand Network systems and Services Conference (WONS) 2023
DESCRIPTION:The conference will be held on 30th January – 1st February 2023 in Madonna di Campiglio\, Italy. \nPaper submission deadline: October 7\, 2022 (paper registration deadline: September 30\, 2022). \n  \nCall for papers \nWireless on-demand network systems and services have become mainstream technology\, one that keeps shaping the networked world of the future. Different types of wireless LANs\, both sub-6 GHz and in higher frequency bands\, as well as such established technologies as Bluetooth LE\, LTE-Direct\, NFC\, and optical links are the cornerstone of networking paradigms including NextG cellular\, mesh and sensor networks\, cloud networks\, vehicular networks\, non-terrestrial networks and in-body networks. \nThe challenges of this exciting research field are numerous. These include providing robust services in highly dynamic and extreme environments\, how to minimize energy demands or zero out battery usage in favor of renewable energy sources\, how to smartly blend multiple wireless technologies available to a network node (including across radically different bands)\, and how to make wireless on-demand networks and services self-configurable\, adaptive\, self-organizing\, and self-healing in a wealth of different context\, each exhibiting its own peculiar constraints. \nIFIP WONS\, now at its eighteenth edition\, has established itself as a high quality forum to address the above and related challenges. WONS 2023 aims at continuing to provide a global platform for rich interactions between experts in their fields\, discussing innovative contributions in a stimulating environment. \nThis announcement solicits original contributions of high-quality research providing novel insights on all aspects of wireless on-demand networks and systems. Topics of interest comprise\, but are not limited to: \n\n5G and 6G networks\nCloud/edge/fog computing and networking\nCognitive radio networks\nCross-layer design\nData analytics and ML/AI-driven network systems\nHeterogeneous wireless networks\nJoint communications\, networking\, and sensing\nImplementations and testbeds\nInternet of Things\nIntra-body and biomedical on-demand systems\nIntegration of different wireless technologies\nLocalization and mobility management\nMobile computing and services\nNetwork and service management\nNon-terrestrial (aerial\, space\, underwater\, …) networks\nNovel architectures\, protocols\, applications and services\nOpen source software\, open source hardware and open data\nOptical and visible light wireless networks\nPerformance evaluation through simulations\, emulations and real-world experiments\nPervasive and ubiquitous computing\nQuantum computing and networking\nQoS and QoE aspects\nSecurity\, privacy\, and trust\nSocial and economic aspects\nSustainable networks and distributed ML/AI services\nTheoretical and data driven modeling and optimization\nVehicular networks\nWireless technologies for NextG networks (millimeter-wave\, terahertz\, …)\n\n  \nImportant dates \n\nPaper registration: 30 Sept. 2022\nPaper submission: 7 Oct. 2022\nAcceptance notification: 30 Nov. 2022\nCamera ready: 16 Dec. 2022\n\n  \nGeneral Chair \nRenato Lo Cigno\, University of Brescia \n  \nTechnical Program Chairs \n\nStefano Basagni\, Northeastern University\nPaolo Casari\, University of Trento
