DESCRIPTION:Webinar registration is open !\n \nNetworldEurope is organizing a webinar to present its recently released Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA 2022) to the community on the 12th and 13th January 2023. Although the SRIA 2022 is composed of two major and related parts\, the webinar will be centered on the technical annex\,  available here (and you can find the first part\, the introductory whitepaper\, here). The goal of the webinar is to present a condensed overview of the challenges\, visions\, and discussions pertaining to a variety of technological domains deemed highly relevant for European Research\, as covered in the aforementioned SRIA 2022. The presentations will highlight technologies indicative of the innovations being sought for upcoming Smart Networks and Services calls (such as the one announced here)\, which was based on the technical content of the SRIA 2022. \nFind the program of the two webinars on NetworldEurope website.  \nPlease note that more information on how to join the zoom webinar session will be sent out in due time after registration. SUMMARY:Call For Papers - Special Issue on Network Enablers for 6G Use Cases
DESCRIPTION:IEEE Networking Letters – Special Issue on Networking Enablers for 6G Use Cases \nCall For Papers \nThanks to its three major enablers\, i.e.\, enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB)\, massive machine type communications (mMTC)\, and ultra reliable low latency communications (URLLC)\, 5G communications paved the way to use cases such as networked robotics and autonomous systems\, distributed and collaborative sensor/actuator technologies\, personalized user experience and extended reality. These applications seek lower latency (100 microseconds at peak rate)\, faster speed (i.e.\, 100x)\, and higher penetration per square kilometer (i.e.\, 10x). \nExpected to become a reality in 2030\, 6G communications call for efficient and effective solutions that align with the 6G roadmap. With this in mind\, the Special Issue on Network Enablers for 6G Use Cases invites researchers to submit their original contributions leveraging transformational methods\, techniques\, and platforms to advance state-of-the-art and address open issues and challenges from the standpoint of networking in the realization of 6G Use Cases. \nTopics of interest include but are not limited to: \n\nNovel approaches for design\, planning\, and control to ensure ultra-reliable and resilient services over 6G networks\nBridging agility\, flexibility\, and personalized user experience\nNovel and transformative methodologies and paradigms for AI-enabled 6G network automation\nNetworking challenges in the convergence of satellite\, aerial and terrestrial networks for maximized coverage\nNetworking impacts of THz and Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) communications\nRole of blockchains in the realization of spectrum efficiency\nMassive MIMO-based solutions for spectrum usage in 6G use cases\n6G- and 6G use case-specific network security solutions\nTransformative methodologies to achieve sustainability goals in the 6G Era\nEdge integration into a complete Cloud Continuum for 6G\nOptical Core\, Metro\, and Inter-DC network design and operation catering to 6G Services\nQuantum Networking and Computing\nData and management plane solutions for fiber-wireless convergence in 6G scenarios\nExperimental results and experimentation platforms for 6G networks\n\n   \nSubmission Guidelines  \nManuscripts should conform to the standard format indicated in the Manuscript Submission Guidelines on the IEEE Networking Letters website. DESCRIPTION:In recent years we witnessed a growing interest towards leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to innovate network operations at all layers\, domains and planes. Yet\, if\, what and where we need to integrate intelligence in networks and how to (re)design networks for the native support of AI is still largely under debate. This is due to the multi-faceted nature of the challenges behind such integration: on the one hand\, network architectures must be updated to accommodate AI models and their lifecycle by design (e.g.\, collecting and provisioning data in real-time\, balancing centralized versus distributed computing approaches\, empowering low latency requirements for fast closed-loop decision-making and network function automation); on the other hand\, the design of AI models shall improve to better align with the myriad of requirements of production network systems (e.g.\, inference latency\, computational complexity\, trustworthiness of AI decisions); finally\, operational procedures in research must be enhanced for verifiabilty\, reproducibility and real-world deployment (e.g.\, establishing reference datasets\, sharing trained models without sacrificing models explainability\, robustness or safety). \nThe NativeNI – The 1st International Workshop on Native Network Intelligence\, co-located with ACM CoNEXT 2022\, held in Rome\, Italy on December 9\, 2022\, will provide you with pragmatic answers to all these points are paramount to enable a transition of the current large body of literature on AI for networking from academic exercises to solutions integrated in production systems. \nPlease also find below a CfP to the first installment of NativeNI. \nThis workshop aims to bringing together researchers from academia and industry who are committed to making AI in networks a reality.
