SUMMARY:5G-Blueprint Final Showcase
DESCRIPTION:The consortium of the Horizon 2020 Research & Innovation project 5G-Blueprint invites you to the 5G-Blueprint Final Showcase event\, which aims to present the technical results of the almost completed project. \nThe event is free of charge\, but registration is mandatory due to limited space. Please register here. \n5G-Blueprint: teleoperation in transport and logistics\nFinal showcase event\nIn the European Research and Innovation project 5G-Blueprint\, 26 public-private partners are exploring the use of 5G communication technology to remotely control vehicles and ships for transport and logistics. Reliable 5G connectivity can improve road safety and the efficiency of logistics processes. Moreover\, the results of the 5G-Blueprint\, when combined with other technologies and functionalities\, can be seen as an important ‘missing technical piece’ of the puzzle for the possible future deployment of more and more autonomous driving and shipping. In the future\, it will be possible to divide a fully travelled route into sections where a human remotely controls the vehicle or vessel via teleoperation\, and sections where the vehicle or vessel can safely drive or sail autonomously (empty motorway at night\, clear waterway\, etc.). In the final phase of the project\, the ‘teleoperation technology’ was intensively tested in three different locations: Vlissingen\, Antwerp and at the Belgian-Dutch border crossing between Sas van Gent and Zelzate. \nThe 5G-Blueprint partners are pleased to share the results of this research with you at a final showcase event. \nDate: November 21st 2023\nLocation: Industrial Museum Zeeland\, Sas van Gent\, The Netherlands \n  \n\n\n\nAgenda\n\n\n\n09.30\nWalk-in and registration\n\n\n10.30\nPlenary kick-off\nKeynote speeches by\n– Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management\n– Flemish Ministry of Mobility and Public Works\n– European Commission – DG Connect\n– Interactive panel sessions with project partners\n\n\n11.30\nPlenary live demonstrations\n– Seamless Teleoperation on BE-NL cross-border: un-interrupted cross-border teleoperated transport based on 5G connectivity\n– Automated docking: teleoperation of a truck for docking operation!\n\n\n12.30\nNetworking lunch and information market\n\n\n13.10\nDemo carousel \n– Teleoperatated skid steer: teleoperation of a mobile harbour skid steer\n– Teleoperated barge control: teleoperation of an inland barge car passing the border without any interruption of the 5G connectivity (seamless roaming)\n– Enabling Functions for teleoperation that allows  safer and smoother teleoperated transport and more predictable trip times.\n\n\n15.00\nInformal closure with drinks

SUMMARY:Call for Papers for SYMPOSIUM ON VISION AND FACTS ON 6G AND FUTURE NETWORKS IN EUROPE
DESCRIPTION:Call for Papers SYMPOSIUM ON VISION AND FACTS ON 6G AND FUTURE NETWORKS IN EUROPE \nThis symposium is co-organized by 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association (6G-IA) and the RIGOUROUS project \n===================================================== \n2023 IEEE Future Networks World Forum (FNWF’23) \nTheme: Imagining the network of the future \n13-15 November 2023  \nBaltimore\, MD\, USA \n===================================================== \nIMPORTANT DATES \nSymposium Paper Submission: 21 July 2023 \nSymposium Paper Acceptance Notification: 1 September 2023 \nCamera-Ready Submission: 15 September 2023 \n  \nSymposium Co-Chairs \n* Antonio Skarmeta\, Universidad de Murcia\, Spain \n* Kostas Trichias\, 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association (6G-IA) \n* Mario Scillia\, Programme Officer\, European Commission \n* Mikko A. Uusitalo\, Nokia Bell Labs \n  \nSCOPE AND MOTIVATION \nThe work for 6G Networks and Services has started and multiple activities are taking place at global level. Both evolutionary (from B5G networks onwards) and revolutionary approaches are followed to develop\, test and validate innovative technological enablers that will enable the future networks vision at global scale. Some of the aspects investigated by different stakeholders address system architecture\, wireless communication technologies and signal processing\, communication infrastructure technologies and devices and secure service development. \n  \nBesides the technological aspects and technical innovations expected\, 6G networks are also designed bearing in mind the key societal challenges that they must address including environmental\, economic and societal sustainability and technological sovereignty. A wholistic system design approach has become necessary\, addressing both technical and societal aspects and taking into account the complexities of the extended ICT infrastructure and services ecosystem (from vendors and operators\, to service providers and individual users). \n  \nWithin this global movement\, Europe is attempting to take a leading role towards the creation of a hopefully single 6G global standard\, both on a National level as well as on an EU-level. Some of the EU efforts in this sector can be reflected by the establishment of the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) as a legal and funding entity\, as well as by the creation of several National Initiatives (NI) on a member-state level\, through the funding of multi-million euro flagship projects\, targeting technology development\, fostering national innovation and maximization of business impact. \n  \nThe SNS-JU targets a reinforced European leadership in the field of next generation network technologies (6G)\, connected devices and services\, while accelerating European digital industry uptake and digitisation of economy and society. To that end\, a first set of 35 Research and Innovation (R&I) projects have already been funded and started their operations\, while  multiple additional projects will be funded until the end of the SNS-JU program (2030) reaching a total of 1.8 Billion funding from the public and private EU sectors combined. Additional EU partnerships and associations addressing micro-electronics\, AI and Robotics\, photonics\, high-performance computing and more\, are working in collaboration with the SNS-JU and the NIs\, covering all aspects of the necessary technology development for future 6G networks in a wholistic approach. \n  \nThe goal of this symposium is to present the current advances and approaches to reach 6G and Future Networks vision in Europe and its respective R&I ecosystem\, as well as the steps that have been taken to address different enabling technologies / technical enablers and the respective societal challenges. Moreover\, the approach towards system-oriented R&I and dedicated prototyping and experimentation will be presented\, complementing long-term R&I on disruptive concepts\, considering also existing and future collaborations with other regions of the world. \n  \nTOPICS OF INTEREST \nWe invite original\, high-quality research papers that address the aforementioned aspects for beyond 5G and 6G communication networks. The symposium aims to bring together researchers\, practitioners\, and industry experts to exchange ideas\, discuss challenges\, and propose solutions for the next-generation design of 6G networks. \n  \nWe invite submissions on a wide range of research topics\, spanning both theoretical and systems research\, including results from industry and academic/industrial collaborations\, related but not restricted to the following topics\, presenting the actual work and future trends in the research and innovation on 6G in Europe: \n  \nResearch for revolutionary technology advancements\, in preparation for 6G and revolutionary advancements of IoT\, devices and software. \nEnablers and Proof of Concepts (PoCs) used to further develop\, federate and consolidate experimental infrastructure(s)\, focusing on energy efficient technologies for 6G and open to integrate microelectronics developments coming from other programmes. \nLarge-scale Trials and Pilots with Verticals\, including the required infrastructure. The aim is to explore and demonstrate technologies and advanced applications and services for the vertical domains\, as well as the necessary architecture and technological enablers required for large experimentation facilities. \nRelevant approaches to deal with societal challenges such as sustainability\, energy efficiency\, etc. across verticals\, validating the exploitation of 6G across different vertical sectors\, and its dual approach towards sustainability (6G for sustainability & sustainable 6G). \nCollaboration approaches with other region on the world\, cross-border testbed and experimentation initiatives/facilities. \n  \nSYMPOSIUM PAPER SUBMISSION \nSymposium Paper Submission \nAll papers should be submitted via EDAS\, Symposium on Vision and Facts on 6G and Future Networks in Europe track. SUMMARY:DEPLOYING APPLICATIONS IN THE 6G ERA: THE DAWN OF HIGHLY-SECURE\, TRUSTWORTHY\, SCALABLE AND ADAPTABLE ECOSYSTEMS Co-organised workshop
DESCRIPTION:aerOS project co-organises the “DEPLOYING APPLICATIONS IN THE 6G ERA: THE DAWN OF HIGHLY-SECURE\, TRUSTWORTHY\, SCALABLE AND ADAPTABLE ECOSYSTEMS” workshop in the context of IEEE International Workshop on Computer Aided Modeling and Design of Communication Links and Networks. \nWith 5G becoming mainstream after being deployed in several regions of the world\, the constant growth of interconnected devices and the demand for high data rate services compel the conceptualization of the next generation of networking which will address the needs of an “always connected” society. The astonishing numbers of interconnected devices supporting smart homes/cities/transportations\, e-health applications and consumer services\, push toward redesigning the Internet-of-Everything (IoE) paradigm with a user-centric approach\, thus extending the 5G-era shift from rate-centric enhanced mobile broadband services to ultra-reliable low-latency communications. \n6G Networks should be capable of unleashing the full potential of each application\, through the inherent support of contemporary wireless technologies\, cutting-edge network architectures\, AI/ML-based optimization techniques and over-the-top security features. It is often stated that 6G will facilitate the pivotal shift from present-day’s interconnected intelligent nodes to the much broader “connected intelligence”\, a holistic approach for delivering disruptive services\, thus introducing new heights of user satisfaction. \nIn this respect\, this Special Session aims at providing a forum where researchers\, engineers\, and practitioners may discuss the latest advances on architectures\, algorithms\, abstractions\, and technologies for delivering scalable\, secure\, trustworthy\, robust\, flexible\, and agile applications. We strongly encourage submission of innovative work on contemporary network and application design. \nFind out more on the workshop here. \nCall for papers deadline on 31 July 2023 \n

SUMMARY:Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) to strengthen knowledge exchange with the SNS community and collaboration" event
DESCRIPTION:The first “Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) to strengthen knowledge exchange with the SNS community and collaboration” event will take place online on Thursday\, 5 of October 2023\, 14:00-16:00. \nThe DIH has the objective to facilitate the digitalisation of the European industry in the context of the Digital Europe Programme. SCoDIHNet is the network of DIHs with expertise in the domain of Smart Connectivity (5G/6G\, IoT\, Security). \nDIHs aim to develop the links between end users (industry) and technology providers\, of which SNS JU projects are considered key sources. To this end\, various initiatives are being developed focusing on replicability\, mapping of technology providers and end user requirements. \nThe replicability initiative aims to facilitate the reuse of use cases/solutions developed and experimented by SNS projects by compiling them in a catalogue that is regularly updated and from which DIHs could pick up use cases and solutions which fits their customers. The mapping initiative aims to map all technology providers\, testbeds and DIHs at regional level to foster the cooperation among stakeholders working in the same region\, thus facilitating development of innovation with end user customers. Lastly\, end user requirements are being collected to feed the SNS SRIA and workplan\, as DIHs are very close to end users. \nPlease register here. \nThis event is organised by SNS OPS\, with the collaboration of SCoDIHNet.

SUMMARY:AIOTI Web3 Hackathon - 21/22 Sept Brussels/Online - Registration is open
DESCRIPTION:AIOTI is organising a Web3 Hackathon on 21/22 September 2023 in Brussels and online. \nThe objectives are the following: \n▪ Educate potential stakeholders from key target markets (Industry\, Media\, Public Authorities\, and Education) on the benefits of Web3 technology through peer learning and moderated interactions between AIOTI members and other participants.\n▪ Enhance networking between participants\n▪ Create opportunity for participants to build collaborative offerings that are adapted to the needs of key target markets (Industry\, Media\, Public Authorities\, and Education)\n▪ Catalyse creation of a catalogue of Web3 tools and services. \nContent of the hackathon\nThe Web3 hackathon consists of opportunities and challenges for participants to ‘hack’ around by using business and technical Web3 components.\nTo identify these challenges and opportunities\, a series of hybrid (online and on premises) pre-event workshops will be carried out ahead of the hackathon. In each workshop\, industry specific problems would be identified by current users of Web3 technology\, alongside with transversal (industry-independent) challenges. \nAll workshops will follow the same pattern:\n▪ 2 hours workshop\n▪ Up to 10 participants\, for at least half currently working with Web3 technology in the\ntarget industry (Industry\, Media\, Public Authorities\, and Education)\n▪ Participants moderated by an experienced facilitator.\n▪ During the workshops\, the facilitator will help initiate an online collaborative tool with\nwhiteboard to capture input from the participants and guide the workshop\nWorkshop outputs include:\n▪ Web3 opportunities and Challenges for the hackathon\n▪ Brief report from the workshop that can be shared to promote the hackathon \nBefore the Hackathon: Hacking Guide\nHacking Guide is a document that provides participants with a comprehensive overview of the event. It offers both high-level guidance (how the hackathon is put together\, the content – Challenges – of the event) and the detailed description of every major step in the event.\nThe Guide’s role is helping participants prepare for the Hackathon\, as well as to enable them to work independently during the event.\nThe Guide will be distributed electronically (PDF) to the participants prior to the event\, integrated in the online collaboration tool and made available during the event as well. \nIdeation Workshops\nTwo rounds of four simultaneous ideation workshops will take place at the start of the event:\n▪ Industry\n▪ Media\n▪ Public Authorities\n▪ Education\n▪ Wild cards and Convergence (cross-industry challenges) \nIdeation Workshop Process\nThe ideation workshops will be co-hosted by an expert and a practitioner in the respective industry. At the start of the first part of the workshops they will present subjects (opportunities and challenges) identified during the pre-event workshops.\nAfter a short introduction by the workshop’s facilitator\, domain experts will present participants their challenges and opportunities:\n▪ introduction to the context of each opportunity and the nature of the challenges\n▪ Complexities of the context\, such as regulatory or economic constraints\n▪ History of earlier (successful or failed) attempts to deploy specific Web3 use-cases\nExperts will answer questions from the participants and remain available throughout and between the workshops.\nAfter presentation part\, participants will be organised in groups and taken through a structured ideation exercise by the facilitator. Participants would be encouraged not only to think about how their own technologies could be applied to solve the challenges\, but to also see what kind of collaborative Web3 solutions could be developed.\nOne idea of each of the groups will be shared with all other participants at the end of each ideation workshop. These ideas will be written up on Big Idea Posters.\nFirst ideation workshop will last about 1 hour and 45 minutes; the second will last about 1 hour and 30 minutes as the participants will be more familiar with the methodology\, and the same process will take less time. \nTeam Formation\nAfter the ideation workshops\, participants will be asked to form mixed teams around their favourite ideas (Big Ideas from two rounds of ideation). Facilitators will ensure that the teams are diverse\, and that they are of manageable size (4-7 participants). \nDraft event schedule\nDAY 1\n08:30 Registration\n09:00 Opening Briefing\n09:20 Ideation Workshops\, 1st round\n11:10 Coffee Break\n11:30 Ideation Workshops\, 2nd round\n13:15 Lunch\n14:00 Afternoon briefing\n14:10 Idea Gallery and Team Formation\n14:40 Team Work Kick-off: Hacking Time & Validating Solutions (expert meetings)\n17:00 Closing Briefing\nDAY 2\n08:30 Welcome & Coffee\n09:00 Welcome Briefing\n09:10 Hacking Time & Validating Solutions (expert meetings)\n12:30 Lunch\n13:00 Hacking Time: Pitch Preparation\, Pitch Review Sessions\n15:30 Submitting Presentations\n15:45 Pitching Round for peers and experts\n16:45 Rapid fire presentations for peers and the Jury\n17:00 Award \nPlease feel free to register here.

SUMMARY:IEEE International Conference on Network Softwarization 2023 - Call for Papers
DESCRIPTION:Call for Papers – IEEE NetSoft 2023 \nThe 9th IEEE International Conference on Network Softwarization “Boosting Future Networks through Advanced Softwarization” – June 19 – 23\, 2023\, Madrid\, Spain \nImportant Dates \n\nPaper submission deadline: January 30\, 2023 (extended!)\nAcceptance notification: March 24\, 2023\nCamera-ready paper: April 28\, 2023\n\nAims and Scope \nIEEE NetSoft\, the premier International Conference on Network Softwarization\, addresses the advanced research challenges and opportunities raised by the overall transformation trend of network “softwarization”\, which has been revolutionizing the networking field and has accelerated its convergence with adjacent industries. \nNetwork Softwarization refers to the transition of traditional network infrastructure and functionalities\, provided via hardware appliances developed by equipment and service vendors\, to new ones that have been propelled over the last 15 years by the maturity of widespread technologies such as network function virtualization\, software-defined networking\, and service function chaining. \nIn particular\, the ability to program\, manage and operate network and service infrastructures more freely makes it possible to reinvent network and cloud architectures\, customize services\, accelerate service deployment\, and facilitate greater operational efficiencies with guarantees. The need for further advances in these topics is reflected in the overall theme of NetSoft 2023: Boosting Future Networks through Advanced Softwarization. \nNetSoft 2023 will feature technical paper presentations\, keynotes\, tutorials\, workshops\, demos\, and exhibitions from world-leading experts representing service providers\, vendors\, research institutes\, open source projects\, and academia. This year\, a PhD symposium will also be initiated. \nTopics of NetSoft 2023 \nThe conference is soliciting paper submissions with significant research contributions to the field of network softwarization. The topics of interest include\, but are not limited to: \n\nSoftwarized cloud\, fog\, and edge infrastructures\nNetwork softwarization for 5G/6G\nSoftwarization in Metaverse (AR/VR and digital twins)\nCooperative multi-domain\, multi-tenant SDN/NFV environments.\nFuture Internet and New IP architectures.\nMobility management in softwarized networks.\nHigh-precision communications and computing\nService Function Chaining (SFC).\nNetwork slicing and slice management\nQoS and QoE in softwarized infrastructures.\nNetwork softwarization for deterministic Internet re-engineering\nSoftwarization for Cognitive and autonomic networking\nPolicy-based and Intent-based networking.\nAI/ML techniques and network softwarization\nDynamic resource discovery and negotiation schemes.\nAssurance and Measurements in softwarized networks\nResilience\, reliability\, and robustness of softwarized networks\nSecurity\, Safety\, Trust\, and Privacy in virtualized environments.\nEnergy Efficiency in network softwarization\nAbstractions and virtualization of resources\, services\, and functions.\nProgrammability for Time-Sensitive Networks (TSN)\nProgrammable Networking Protocols\nProgrammable SDN and NFV: languages and architectures (P4 and others)\nOpen source and network softwarization.\nHardware acceleration for programmable network functions.\nDevelopment methodologies for network softwarization (DevOps\, NetOps\, Verification).\nDeployment and transition strategies.\nExperience reports from experimental testbeds and deployments.\nNew value chains and service models enabled by softwarization.\nSocio-economic impact and regulations for softwarization.\n\nSubmission Guidelines \nProspective authors are invited to submit high-quality original technical papers for presentation at the conference and publication in the NetSoft 2023 Proceedings. All submissions must be written in English and must use standard IEEE two-column conference template that can be downloaded from \nhttps://www.ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates.html \nTechnical Papers can be of two types: Full or Short papers\, up to 9 and 5 pages respectively\, including references and all other material. If accepted\, a paper will be published in the category (long/short) of its submission. Long papers are the more traditional form to present technical work. Long papers should emphasize not only novelty and vision\, but execution and thoroughness of the contribution (design\, evaluation). Short papers are the preferred vehicle for visionary papers or traditional technical papers whose description fits within a smaller number of pages. Short papers may not yet be ‘fully baked’ in terms of execution and evaluation. In both Full and Short papers\, author names and affiliations should be included after the title\, as provided in the templates. \nPapers submitted should describe original\, previously unpublished research results\, not currently under review by another conference or journal. Papers not meeting the length and formatting requirements or violating IEEE’s guidelines on plagiarized content will be rejected without review. All other submitted papers will be reviewed. Selected papers for NetSoft 2023 may be conditionally accepted and subjected to shepherding before final acceptance. \nOnly PDF files will be accepted for the review process and all manuscripts must be electronically submitted through EDAS: https://edas.info/N30268 \nImportant: NetSoft 2023 is enforcing a strict publication and no-show policy as stated by IEEE. By submitting a contribution\, you agree with the terms of the publication and no-show policy as mentioned in https://netsoft2023.ieee-netsoft.org/authors/publication-and-no-show-policy \nTPC Co-Chairs \n\nElisa Rojas\, Universidad de Alcalá (UAH)\, Spain\nFábio Luciano Verdi\, Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar)\, Brazil\nZuqing Zhu\, University of Science and Technology of China\, China\n\nGeneral Co-Chairs \n\nBarbara Martini – Universitas Mercatorum\, Italy\nCarlos Jesus Bernardos – University Carlos III of Madrid\, Spain
