SUMMARY:A 6G VISION Webinar – What will 6G offer to vertical industries & Future perspectives
DESCRIPTION:The 5G/6G Vertical Users Workshops aim at establishing a collaborative event for strategic dialogue between vertical industries (automotive Industrial automation\, health\, media industry\, security\, public safety\, energy)\, SDOs and 3GPP\, with a view to exchange requirements\, outline issues and obstacles impeding progress\, and look at upcoming future standards development. \nThese requirements are considered to be essential to unlock the potential of 5G/6G technologies\, with the objective to enhance vertical industries. \nThe April 20 workshop gathered more than 250 attendees on “What will offer 6G to vertical industries?” After a presentation from Alexandros Kaloxylos on the global 5G/6G research picture\, the speakers dug into 6G high-profile themes\, by tackling long-term challenges and priorities that can be summarized as follows: \n\nWhat may be the economic\, societal\, environmental and technological impact of 6G concept.\nHow business is going to evolve and keep up while moving from 5G to 6G.\n6G business case(s) for 6G and/or Use Case(s) and what are the key drivers. \nWhat advantages will 6G have over 5G and how quickly do we need it\, and at what cost.\nWhat 5G-related shortcomings 6G is expected to fix (or try to).\nThe Voice of EU (and International) R&I for next generation networks and services.\n\nPresentations are available for download (click on the speaker’s name) \nAlexandros Kaloxylos – 6G-IA Executive Director \nRahim Tafazolli – Regius Professor & Director of Institute for Communication Systems (ICS) and 5GIC (5G Innovation Centre) at University of Surrey \nArtur Hecker – Chair of 6G-IA Vision and Societal Challenges WG \nHåkon Lønsethagen – Co-chair of 6G-IA Vision and Societal Challenges WG \nDavid Boswarthick – Director of New Technologies at ETSI \nMuslim Elkotob – Principal Solutions Architect at Vodafone \n  \n The workshop was recorded. The video is available here. You can also download here your copy of the Webinar Report. \n

SUMMARY:5G for Smart Communities Launch Event
DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday 25 April\, the 5G for Smart Communities Support Platform\, on behalf of the European Commission\, would like to invite you to the 5G for Smart Communities launch event. \nThis event will bring together interested stakeholders from mobile network operators\, alternative operators\, equipment manufacturers and public authorities\, to share ideas and insights on ways to achieve Europe’s Digital Decade targets for 2030\, in particular when it comes to the deployment and take up of 5G for smart communities and innovative applications. \nThe day will feature presentations by DG CNECT and the Commission’s implementing agency HaDEA\, with a focus on Europe’s Digital Decade targets for 2030\, as well as on how the 5G for Smart Communities action under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) – Digital programme can contribute to the attainment of these objectives. A roundtable discussion will follow\, in which we will explore the benefits of collaboration between mobile network operators\, alternative operators\, equipment manufacturers\, and public authorities\, and the role of EU-funding in supporting 5G projects. \nAfter a networking lunch\, breakout sessions will be organized according to thematic areas of Health\, Education\, Smart Cities\, Emergency and Disaster Relief. Selected 5G for Smart Communities projects from the first CEF Digital call for proposals will present their projects and share useful tips and lessons learned from the application projects with the interested stakeholders. The event will conclude with a wrap-up session and final remarks by DG CNECT. \nMore info & agenda here. \nPlease register here.

SUMMARY:5G-ERA Hackathon
DESCRIPTION:5G-ERA project invites you to its first public hackathon that will be hosted in a hybrid mode both on the premises of the University of Bedfordshire and online using Zoom. \nThe Hackathon will last a total of two days\, and participants will be prepared for the hackathon (25th of April 2023)\, with the actual event taking place on the 26th of April 2023. \nParticipants will gain personal experience on: \n1)     Creating a distributed and containerised network application for obstacle avoidance using a simulated TurtleBot 3 under the 5G-ERA \n2)     Deploying the newly created network application into an orchestrated and cloud-native environment \n3)     Offloading the tasks from robot to cloud using the 5G-ERA \nThe first day (25/04/2023) will be dedicated to preparation and warm-up. Participants will go through the 5G-ERA environment with hosts on basic libraries and ROS simulation environments. It will ensure the 5G-ERA cloud robotics environment is configured and fully functional. \nOn the second day (26/04/2023)\, users will build a new network application for distributed robotics and deploy it in a cloud-native environment for offloading tasks dynamically. \n  \nOnline Location: \nJoin Zoom Meeting \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/82908773888?pwd=M1Bua1hKWVN3U2d4Wmh0OGVwZlc5Zz09 \nMeeting ID: 829 0877 3888 \nPasscode: 549201 \n  \nOffline Location: \nRoom A220a\, A Block\, Park Square \nCentre for Robotics and Smart Information Systems \nUniversity of Bedfordshire\, University Square \nLuton\, LU1 3JU\, United Kingdom \n  \nFor more information please contact Mr. Radu Popescu at Radu.Popescu@beds.ac.uk. \nRegister at: https://5g-era.eu/news-events/
