The 5G-PPP participation at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona, March 2-5, 2015 comprises of three main activities:

  • Introduction of the 5G-Infrastructure PPP Vision Document

The 5G-Infrastructure PPP has prepared its vision of the next generation of communication networks and services.

  • Launch of the 5G-Infrastructure PPP Vision Document Press Event

A 5G PPP Press Conference with participation of European Commissioner Oettinger and CTOs from Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Nokia, Orange, SES, Intel, Huawei, DoCoMo, and Samsung was held on Tuesday 3 March 2015. The Official press release and speaker information is available here.

  • Presentations and Demonstrations of on going EU 5G research

Five demonstrations will be given at the EU 5G Research Stand 0B17, located in HALL 8 :

  • MIWEBA: Millimeter-wave small cell backhaul link.
  • 5GNOW: Fragmented spectrum and asynchronous multiuser for 5G systems – filter bank multi-carrier physical layer.
  • CREW/EVARILOS: Remote evaluation of RF-based indoor localization.
  • IJOIN: Novel system architecture thanks to mobile network intelligence centralization.
  • METIS: Nomadic nodes for capacity increase, and Flexible FBMC air interface for 5G.

Several more 5G demonstrations, coming from EC projects will also be held at other locations:

  • HALL 3 STAND 3B10 NOKIA Real time bidirectional mmWave system for 5G, MiWaveS Project
  • HALL 6 STAND 6E10 NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS 5G New Waveform Prototyping with LabVIEW Communications on NI’s SDR platform, 5GNOW Project
  • HALL 8.1 STAND K48 at the i2CAT booth, Showcases of the Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) marketplace and the interaction with the user, T-NOVA Project

Other activities that may be of interest include some of the Networld2020 ETP SMEs who are also displaying their 5G related innovations at MMC:

  • Magister Solutions‘ reliable and secure wireless communication and technology R&D solutions will be hosted at the Team Finland stand (5C31), and
  • TST Sistemas will exhibit their IoT products on a full stand as part of the Spainish Pavillion Hall Congress Square CS60, booth 37.
