| Context and Objectives: This event follows previous contacts between the EU and Taiwanese administration. Both EU and Taiwan have launched ambitious 5G research and development initiatives and agreed on the targeted opening call in the future internet included in 2016-17 work programs.The event takes place in the context of 5G technology evolution and preparatory consultation for the EU-Taiwan Targeted opening call of the Horizon 2020 programme. The first EU-Taiwan joint 5G Workshop was held by European Commission on October 24, 2014 to explore mutual technical interests.The purpose of this workshop is consequently: – in the short term, to share information on technology trends and work out joint proposal for EU-TW Targeted Opening Call and expedite the implementation of collaborative projects contributed by partners of the two sides. – In the mid term, to promote Taiwan and EU collaboration on a regular basis and to contributions to international standards organizations such as ITU-R and 3GPP. |
