Global vision, standardisation & stakeholder engagement in 5G |
The overriding goal of Global5G.org is facilitating a European-led contribution to the international vision of 5G networks, addressing a large set of requirements from different vertical industries.
Global5G.org fills an existing gap in today’s efforts to implement a European “5G PPP Vision” in an international context, by engaging all relevant stakeholders. Global5G.org will showcase all major outputs and results of 5G-related initiatives as part of the drive towards a sustainable Global 5G PPP Vision.
Achievements
The overriding goal of Global5G.org is facilitating a European-led contribution to the international vision of 5G networks, addressing a large set of requirements from different vertical industries. To this end, a number of achievements have been accomplished over its lifespan. The Verticals Cartography online tool has become a 5G-PPP programme-level tool used by analysts around the world to track 5G pilots, trials, and research across verticals.
Global5g.org plays a key role in the 5G-IA Pre-Standardization WG. It also leads a Task Force that brings together the 3GPP TSG chairs, a sub-set of its Market Representation Partners (MRPs) and key representatives from ETSI to support 5G standardisation with and for vertical industries, culminating in a new series of Vertical End Users Workshops held in 2019 to focus on requirements tracking per sector and a mapping of common requirements.
Global5G.org has hosted numerous webinars on vertical sectors ranging from automotive to energy to healthcare, and published White Papers on topics including Small Cells, 5G for Connected and Automated Mobility through the 5G PPP Automotive WG, co-authored the white paper v3.0 of the Architecture WG and the Pan-EU Trials Roadmap V4.0 through the 5G-IA Trials WG.
A flexible mapping tool was developed destined for integration into the data visualisation capabilities of the 5G Observatory. Project deliverables offer in-depth analysis of industry rollout trends and emerging business models.
To promote the benefits of 5G to ordinary people in domains such as emergency services and industry verticals, Global5G.org has produced a high-quality video with the support of highly renowned experts: The Need for 5G .
Final results will be available at the end of 2019.
