5G PPP Trials and Pilots Summary Brochure 2024 |
||
In April 2024, 5G PPP published the 5G Infrastructure PPP Trials and Pilots Summary Brochure 2024. This brochure presents a synthesis of the vast amount of work carried out by the portfolio of Phase 2 and Phase 3 5G Infrastructure PPP projects. Section 1 presents a high-level view of the achievements of the project portfolio, this including key figures such as the number of use cases addressed per call or year, or their geographical distribution for the whole duration of the programme. This analysis follows from the data gathered in Section 2. The latter includes a number of tables with the names of the T&Ps and use cases, vertical sectors addressed, locations and dates. This information is fully synchronized with that in the PPP Verticals Cartography. It is worth noting that this summary brochure focuses only on large-scale trials and pilots. The 5G Infrastructure Public Private Partnership (PPP) Programme comprised of 93 projects that were organized in three distinctive phases, namely, specification, development, and realization of trials and pilots (T&P). As of March 2024, nearly all PPP projects have concluded their activities, with only 8 Phase 3 projects still on-going. The 5G PPP projects generated outstanding results and achieved a large impact, as it has been regularly highlighted in the various documents elaborated by the 5G Infrastructure PPP and the 5G-IA (e.g., whitepapers, reports, brochures, roadmaps), as well as in the corresponding project websites. Collectively, 5G Infrastructure PPP projects created a portfolio of advanced European telecommunication solutions. They also ensured a large momentum and dynamism for the actual trials of these solutions, as well as the further development of 5G systems on the road towards 6G networks, including other projects being funded by the 6G Smart Networks and Services (SNS) Joint Undertaking (JU). You can download the brochure here, more information is available on 5G PPP website. |

The Smart Connectivity DIH Network has mainly worked on the following topics 1/ In the context of the SNS-OPS project, a questionnaire has been sent to phase 2 projects in order to collect information and one of the questions is addressing the replicability of the developed use cases. The projects are invited to use the replicability assessment tool to qualify the replicability level of each use case. The first feedbacks show that most of the use case get a good replicability level which is quite encouraging. 2/ Following the survey to identify the 5 key services, the most important one addresses “Development of EU proposal”. In order to better understand the DIH needs and to provide concrete action plan, a workshop was organized on 25 April 2024 “How to create consortiums for European Funding?”. The output of the workshop will feed the white paper which will provide a set of concrete actions supporting the 5 key selected services. 3/ SCoDIHNet has been invited at the AIOTI Bi-monthly event on 16 April 2024 in order to update members on the activities conducted in 2023. The idea was to engage AIOTI technology providers in order to facilitate cooperations with DIHs and end users. |
