5GMED @VTC2024-Spring
From 24-27 June, the 5GMED project was in Singapore at the 2024 IEEE 99th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC2024-Spring) represented by its consortium partner i2CAT. The project presented the ultimate results of its work in a 5G deployment model for future mobility in the Mediterranean Cross-Border Corridor. Final Public Event 5GMED held its final public event on 27 June 2024 in Castell de Peralda, Spain and live on YouTube. The event marked the culmination of four years’ work by team members to develop a 5G deployment model for future mobility in the Mediterranean cross-border corridor. The day’s programme involved all the project’s stakeholders, industry experts and political figures, presenting the project’s highlights and keynote speeches to the public. Panels of partners shared the results, encouraging discussions on the future of mobility. In addition, demonstrations took place at the border, offering a first-hand look at the revolutionary advances made. More information about the event is available here. |

5G-ROUTES Workshop & Field Trial |
||
On 29 May 2024, 5G-ROUTES project organised a Workshop at the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. This workshop focused on the transformative business aspects of 5G maritime solutions. With a focus on extending the coverage and improving the capacity of 5G communications beyond the coast, the workshop offered discussions on technologies such as NPN-PN interaction, NTN connectivity and 5G IAB. Participants explored real-life use cases such as video transmission from ferries, multi-user gaming and connected logistics.
On June 2024, the 5G-ROUTES project conducted a field trial in the cities of Valga-Valka, by testing cutting-edge solutions in a real-world setting, the project is advancing in his work about cross-border interactions and in the providing of robust, reliable 5G services to diverse communities. SMART5GRID Use Cases Videos |
||
In June 2024, the Smart5Grid project published videos to present two use cases:
The first video demonstrates the capabilities of the developed Smart5Grid platform and of the Network Application for the remote inspection of automatically delimited working areas at distribution grid level through the deployment of a private 5G network in the Ecogarraf substation. The second video contains description and user interface of a network application with three virtual network functions for 1) ms-level precise distributed generation monitoring; 2) predictive maintenance enabler and 3) MQTT broker for seamless communication. The application was developed under the Smart5Grid project by two Bulgarian partners (Entra Energy, Software Company) and was supported by Vivacom as the solution’s telecom provider. The videos are available on Smart5Grid YouTube channel. |

SCoDIHNet monthly news |
||
In June 2024, the Smart Connectivity DIH Network has mainly worked on the following topics: 1/ The 5 key services identified during the survey have been translated in a collection of real actions that SCoDIHNet will put in place to support DIH day to day operation. A white paper has been developed and has been finalised in June, ready for publication. 2/ The “IoT Service by Africa and for Africa” Event organised with the Hubiquitous project, one of the 5 projects aiming at developing DIHs in Africa was a great success with the presentation of the Solution box which provides all the necessary hardware components, online learning resources, and a cloud platform to easily prototype IoT services. In addition, they will also be sharing success stories from our champions who have participated in the Techhub Catalyst Program. These inspiring stories will highlight the achievements and positive impact that our champions have identified for Africa in the IoT area. 3/ The Citiverse event co organised by the Enterprise Europe Network has the objective to address How AI, IoT, Blockchain and XR are driving urban innovation in future Cities & Communities The event will be focused on showcase and promote the debate among Public Authorities, Research and Industry on concrete advancements in the application of 5 to 6G emerging technologies solutions for urban innovation towards the upcoming European paradigm of “CitiVerse”. It was also an opportunity to facilitate cooperation between technology providers and end users where DIHs have a great role. |
