The 6G IA subgroup BVME got a workshop proposal accepted for the IEEE GlobeCom and has now launched the Call for papers.
Scope: Understanding emerging 5G and 6G ecosystems effects, structures and drivers while facing challenges towards achieving sustainability and maximizing growth.
The Workshop is triggered by recent contributions from European 5G PPP projects to joint working groups on business and architecture topics. The working groups articulated how disaggregation of telecommunication technologies and business services drive current market trends and make ecosystem approaches* highly relevant as a means to maximize growth and foster innovation in 5G and beyond and moving towards the 6G era. The Workshop will touch upon topics related to the role of ecosystems, ecosystem strategies, formulations, and business modelling tools in 5G/B5G/6G eras. It will address new challenges in the 5G and future 6G ecosystems related to sustainability, interoperability, and data management. The Workshop will host invited speakers acknowledged for their contribution to ecosystem evolution, societal challenges, and B5G business models, and call for cutting-edge contributions. In particular, the organizing group call for contributions from researchers around the globe. All authors will be invited to take part in panel discussions.
*Ecosystem: “an ecosystem encompasses a set of actors that contribute to the focal offer’s user value proposition” [Kapoor, R. 2018. Ecosystems: broadening the locus of value creation. Journal of Organization Design. Vol 7, 12.]
Call for papers
5G introduced technologies that transform and will eventually open networks in new ways, which ultimately fuels firms’ innovation capacity; a tendency expected to be even more intense in 6G. This may lead to significant changes in dynamics and formulations in established telecom markets, due to the number of active firms and the different roles these can adopt.
The Workshop calls for papers across the continents to explore such dynamics (drivers, opportunities, and challenges) and to provide an outlook to forthcoming market formulations of “5G and beyond provisioning” and “Vertical Industries”. This is a timely discussion in the global 5G and 6G community currently shaping the future 6G vision because the ways in which markets develop often determine the evolution of technology roadmaps and vice-versa. Understanding the emerging market effects, structures and drivers at an early stage are critical so that future R&D efforts are steered to and address challenges of high impact. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
