Global expansion of COVID-19 is affecting people life and has major impact on overall individuals and organizations operation. Among many others issues, in direct connection to travels bans and overall restrictions/confinement measures… many conferences, events and meetings are either cancelled (e.g. MWC 2020), shifted to Fall 2020 or organized in remote/”virtual” mode.
EC Officers are also shifting specific Call for proposals DLs, considering the recent escalation of restrictions and organizing EC projects reviews in remote mode instead of face-to-face meetings in Brussels or on-site. European Parliament decided to postpone or cancel all activities for the week starting on 16.03.20 in an effort to contain the spread of the virus.

Global 5G mapping tool |
||
The Global5G.org project team has designed and developed the Global5G.org Mapping tool, which lives on through FULL5G. This tool aims at mapping 5G deployment indicators to assess the 5G readiness of European countries, including countries outside the European Union when data is available.
The Mapping tool gives users a European view of data integrated from different sources, such as the EU 5G Observatory, IDC, Internet World Stats, The Global Economy, Lifewire and Global5G.org. The tool has been designed to be as user-friendly as possible to simplify data visualisation. Data is available in different forms: coloured maps, markers (click on the fact sheet for more information), country factsheets (with a diagram tool to compare with other countries). snapshot of the Global5G.org mapping tool http://mapping.global5g.org |

5GAA webinar on Predictive QoS |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Webinar, March 26, 2020: Predictice QoS – using 5G network data analytics to enable proactive C-V2X adaptation 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) has developed the concept of predictive Quality of Service (QoS), a mechanism enabling mobile networks to provide early notifications about predicted QoS changes to interested consumers, such as the V2X application in the vehicle. This makes it possible for the application to adjust its behaviour before the predicted QoS change takes effect, which is important to certain automotive use cases, such as remote and autonomous driving. The concept of predictive QoS is spreading in the industry and among standards developing organizations (SDO). It is, therefore, of interest to achieve a common understanding of what predictive QoS is – what problems it addresses, as well as how they are addressed. The 5G Infrastructure Association is also working with 5GAA on predictive QoS as part of the activities jointly undertaken with this 5G automotive association under the Memorandum of Understanding, including a cooperation with 3GPP on standardisation. IEEE ICC 5G LTE-IC 2020 CfP |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Dublin, June 7-11, 2020
ICC WS-04: 5G LTE-IC 2020 5G-DRIVE is organising a workshop on 5G Long Term Evolution and Intelligent Communication in conjunction with IEEE ICC 2020 and has published a CfP. (http://info.ee.surrey.ac.uk/CCSR/IWSDN/) Workshop Scope: The next generation wireless networks, i.e., 5G and beyond, autonomous vehicle networks, will be extremely dynamic and complex due to the ultra-densely deployed wireless networks. These introduce many critical challenges for signal processing, network planning and operation, network management etc. Meanwhile, generation and consumption of wireless data are becoming increasingly distributed with ongoing paradigm shift from people-centric to machine-oriented communications, making the operation of future wireless networks even more complex. To mitigate the complexity of future wireless network operation, new approaches of intelligently utilizing distributed computational resources with improved context-awareness becomes extremely important. In this regard, the edge computing architecture aiming to distribute computing, storage, control, communication, and networking functions closer to end uses, have a great potential for enabling efficient operation of future wireless networks. Such promising architectures make the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) principles, which incorporate learning, reasoning and decision-making mechanism, as natural choices for designing a tightly integrated network. |
