I am researching the remote monitoring and data analysis of horses and horse racing that I believe will improve the athleticism and performance of a Race Horse in competition. The idea works by embedding sensors in the bridle of a horse that monitor the head movement and breathing.
Data is sent wirelessly from the bridle to the saddle which contains more sensors that measure physiological and cardiovascular parameters when the horse is running. The combined data form the bridle and saddle are sent over the mobile phone or satellite network on to the cloud where data analytics takes place and the performance of the horse is predicted based on factors such as headwind, head movement, physiological condition (e.g. heart rate), the racing technique of the horse, the lie of the racetrack, the weather conditions and the condition of the ground at race time. Using this data analysis it should be able to train and prepare the horse better for the race and ultimately improve performance and outcome. Recent advances in AI, data analytics, sensor networks and wireless communications could make this feasible now.
